With the catastrophic structural failure of hull 2 and the nervousness on the water, a revised hull was needed again..... The M spec hull will hopefully be the last. 29th May The scales tell the horrible truth... 17.5 Kg ! 28th May Hull 3 abandoned. First test flight showed significant rear bias on the weight balance, but an alarming inability to hover. Once the weight balance was corrected it was no better at hovering. The skirt inflates and lifts the craft, but there's not enough airflow to raise the beast. Next hull fibreglass...... 20th May Hull stripped and sprayed. Now in the progress of rebuilding it. 15th May The new hull needs a revised thrust engine mount, so I have fabricated a complete thrust unit that is independant of the hull. This allows full belt tension and is easily removed for working.
12th May Progress is visually slow but the work continues. Hull sealing and shaping is copmpleted ready for spraying. The new air tube has been produced with one final section to install once the lift engine is secured in position. A selection of spare skirts has also been produced. A total of five of the distinctive yellow and orange skirts have now been made, one damaged beyond repair in the May day run, one installed and three spares. The new air pipe. Each of the rudders is mounted on a lower pivot A short spacer will be fitted between the lower pivot and the rudder, then a similar pivot pin and spacer fitted at the top Three spare completed skirts ready for race day dramas..... 6th May. STi rear wing, new rudders and active aero all under construction. 4th May Here's the hull in early build stages. with filler.
