Team PAYNTRIX 2010 Hovercraft Challenge entry

Welcome to my hovercraft videos with the most recent at the top.

01st May 2010

Here's Bobby Dazzler and us on the pond. Weight balance was far too forward for any speed. The prop was only just spinning, but we didn't sink, and weight distribution is easily fixed.

Private test session at a secret location in Kent, just up the road from the last secret location yesterday.....

Here is some testing on a concrete surface to see if the issues identified yesterday were any better. And it was better, much. and A LOT faster. This video has the onboard from the hovercam inset. Disapointingly the cam failed to record the second and third runs which were faster..... It doesn't look very comfortable.

Then it was off to the water ..... I chose a slow running river close to the secret locations.

So now I have a soggy skirt to wash and repair, but a sucessful couple of days of testing.

A few hours modifying the small issues and we should be ready for another Friday test.

16th April 2010

Friday saw the first test session of the competition with Payntrix and Bobby Dazzler leading the way. This was held at the secret location in kent just round the corner from Matalan, opposite Ali's best Kebab. Doh !

The superior design of the Payntrix hovercraft had us up and running in moments, waiting for Bobby Dazzler to get his delicate glow engines to run.

Here was the first run, where both craft were up and running, but Dazzler was having a small thrust engine issue.

You'll notice how he deliberatley drives into the side of me, but the 13.5KG beast was not put off by that and Dazzler suffered a stalled engine for his trouble.

The second recorded run has the craft showing a good turn of speed, easily out dragging Bobby Dazzler, but again twice in this video Dazzler continues to turn this sedate cruise session into a contact sport.

Despite how it looks, this is not the same run 3 times, this is continious footage of the first Hull 2 controlled run.
